Keep Active!!
You may think that to burn fat, or more commonly thought, ‘lose weight’, you’re going to have to take part in a vigorous exercise program where you need to go to the gym 6 days a week and eat carrot sticks all day.
While this may be the general consensus amongst the majority of the public, it couldn’t be further from the truth.
In order to burn fat and lose weight, the process is much simpler.
Firstly, we need to eat healthier foods. Now this doesn’t mean the carrot sticks I mentioned above, it just means that we need to make healthier choices each and every day. So, for example, if you usually eat 4 biscuits per day, cut this down to three, and in the process will cut your calorie intake in half instantly.
Instead of opting for a jar of pasta sauce from your local shop, make your own.
Simple things like this can, in the long run, make the world of difference.
So, your nutrition to lose weight really is simple. Make healthier choices, snack less on foods which we know aren’t the healthiest of choices and concentrate on consuming (slightly) less calories than your body requires each day.
Now onto the main focus of the article. Exercise.
You may think you need to hit the gym and exercise hard to get any progress.
Where this is true just a couple of times a week, the best way to continually make progress is to stay as active as possible.
This doesn’t mean that you need to run 10 miles a day. It just means to avoid sitting as much as you can. Make smart choices. Take the stairs instead of the lift or escalator. Walk to the shops. Take the dog for a walk. Just by being more active in this way you will be able to burn more calories without even realising.
Sedentary lifestyles aren’t good, so by getting up increasing activity levels, you will find not only you will start to lose weight (if your nutrition is on point too), but you will also feel far more energetic and better as a whole.
In summary, make healthier choices in regard to your food each day. Not wholesale changes, just slightly smarter choices.
Secondly, make smarter choices in regard to the amount we move each day. Try and stand instead of sit. Drive less. Walk more. Keep active!!
Simplicity is key to long term success in the quest to become fitter and healthier. Try not to get too confused by some of the information provided within the health and fitness industry.
Now, if you want to speed things up slightly in terms of reaching your goals faster, then by all means hit the gym hard and exercise more vigorously. But if this is a daunting option for yourself, then just increasing your activity and making healthier food choices will make a huge difference to your lifestyle.
