Client Stories – My Relationship with Fitness

I’ve always loved getting some form of exercise, even if it’s just a dog walk, or a gym session, or bootcamp. It sets me up for the day and gets me moving or is a great finish to the day, and finding PT with Zenith three and a bit years ago, has probably been one of the best things I could of found, Mark always finds the best way to challenge me and my fitness without me really knowing which is just what I needed, even if his counting does need some major improvement!

At the beginning of lockdown, I though WOW! I’ve got these 9 hours I would normally be at work to do whatever I want now (within guidelines), the weather was amazing and I could train outside this was a huge plus for me, so I bought some home gym equipment and got to work with my training, having Virtual PT sessions with Mark, which have been great to really push me on with my training, as I am always better when I have someone pushing me to do that extra few reps and his bad counting skills can also help! Haha! The poor dog was getting much longer walks though the hills, which he now loves but the first week I don’t think he was too happy.

Then about 3-4 weeks in my motivation started to drop, just kept thinking “nah, I’ll train tomorrow” but tomorrow never comes, I was just doing the one session with Mark a week, but with the Zenith Fit Locker Room and Mark on hand, I was seeing how people were adapting to lockdown life and training, so I got going again, even did my first voluntary run in about two and half years, I used to be able to run half marathons and I would actually enjoyed them, but I just lost my love for it and was finding the gym & classes more fun, and went for my first bike ride in about 5 years and really enjoyed out so thought that’s my new mojo, and had some rides planned for the next week to mix up my training a bit.

Then 2 weeks ago, I had a major setback and for the last two weeks, I have not been able to train, I haven’t even been able to walk the dog, I have been very ill, unable to eat, so had zero energy levels, so after a week of being like this & then struggling to drink also, I phoned the GP and they were amazing, have given me some medication and I am seemingly like I am on track now, I’m not 100% but I am getting there.

I had my first Virtual PT session in 2 weeks today and it felt amazing! (Don’t tell Mark). It was the boost and the kick up the a@£$ I needed to get back on track, I know I need to take it easy for a little bit, but I am feeling like I have got back on the right track.

My fitness goal for one day is…. to be able to survive 24 hours with Mark doing a PT session for charity

I mean seriously it is to climb Ben Nevis & Scafell Pike, I’ve done Snowdon a couple of times so would like to do the others, not as a 3-peak challenge, I enjoy my sleep too much!

Sorry it’s a long one but wanted to say THANK YOU! To you and the guys in the locker room, although don’t really post much I do read and take in from everyone.
