Carbohydrates: they’re the subject of many debates in the world of health and nutrition. From low-carb diets to “carb cycling”, it’s no wonder that many are left feeling confused about this essential macronutrient. Let’s delve into the reasons why carbohydrates shouldn’t be feared, especially when your goal is to lose body fat.

1. Carbohydrates Fuel Your Workouts

If you’re incorporating regular exercise into your weight loss regimen, carbs are your best friend. They provide the primary source of energy for high-intensity activities. Glycogen, the storage form of glucose (from carbs) in our muscles and liver, is readily used up during physical activity. One reason some individuals fear carbs is because of insulin, the hormone responsible for shuttling glucose into cells. It’s believed that frequent insulin spikes can lead to fat storage.
